Can't go wrong with boobs and beer! Many thanks to the American Cancer Society and Eastburn for hosting and including us in the 3rd annual Brewers for Boobs event. Migration was proud to participate with 9 other local breweries at the all day fundraiser for breast cancer. The event raised over $7,000 and was a fun, beer filled day for all!

Head Brewer Mike linked up with Dave Fleming from Old Lompoc brewing last Saturday to brew a collaboration rye wit. This unique beer will feature several different yeast strains, grapefruit zest, coriander and three different hops all blended to perfection. Old Lompoc will be serving half of the batch at their local pubs and we'll take care of the rest. The beer highlights a long running friendship with Dave and our peeps over at Lompoc. Stay posted for the upcoming release party set for early June, cheers!

Thanks to everybody who made it out last Saturday for our Cinco de Mayo fundraiser! Our first annual "Migrating Towards a Cure" was a great success with live music, great beer, cornhole tournament and plenty of money raised for our cause.

This could not be done without the support of Camp Cascadia and our great customers that came out and donated generously. We look forward to replicating this event next year as an annual Cinco de Mayo tradition!

Join Migration and 40+ breweries for the 2012 Annual Cheers to Belgian Beers Festival being held at Portland based Metalcraft Fabrication. We are bringing our latest brew the Prism, which is a strong but light colored Belgian Triple coming in at 8.8 abv and 16 ibu’s. For this special powerhouse we added a little coriander and lightly dry hopped with Sorachi Ace hops. We’re excited to be involved for the second straight year and look forward to drinking some great beers this Saturday, 4/21 starting at 12pm.

Bertha Has Arrived

In what has been a whirlwind of a few weeks our final piece of the brewery expansion arrived yesterday. Affectionately known as “Bertha” our new 20bbl fermenter is in the house! She came in kicking and screaming as we managed to put a few holes and dents in the pubs walls, but she’s settled down and we’re now preparing to start brewing into the tank by early next week. The 20bbl fermenter plus the 15bbl brite tank that arrived last week will allow us to expand capacity by 50%. We look forward rocking the new equipment strong throughout the spring and summer and should now be in a position to increase both our in-house offerings and continue to expand local distribution.

New Fermenter

Our search is over! After a couple of long months looking for the right fermenter, we’ve finally found our winner. We will be welcoming a (new to us) 20bbl fermenter coming to us via a brewery in Montana. In combination with our new 15bbl brite tank, we will essentially be able to increase our production by 50% and in turn provide more beer for the pub and our distribution accounts. The timing couldn’t be any better as we are beginning to ramp up for the busy spring and summer months!

This is our first official size upgrade from 7bbl equipment and is a major step forward for us as a brewery. We will plan to continue this expansion as the year unfolds. Stay tuned….

	Check it out:

A Visit to Ninkasi

As part of our ongoing "Brewery Series" the Migration crew took a little road trip down to Eugene to hang with the Ninkasi gang for some shop talk and beer drinking. After having a few warm up pints in the tasting room Head Brewer and Co-Founder Jamie Floyd took us on a tour of the brewing facility. Needless to say the sheer scope of the operation is impressive and the fact that they have gone from small local brewery to a regional powerhouse in 5 years is borderline insane.

Both Jamie, Nikos and the entire Ninkasi gang showed us some true Eugene hospitality, which included an awesome dinner and a trip to an Old School arcade. While some people have questioned the consistency and quality of the beer of this explosive brewery, one thing is certain; they are making and selling a shit ton of beer. On top of that they have been successful in developing an incredibly strong brand, created real jobs and have given a ton back to the local community. This was a great trip for us to see how a company that started off as a small brewery can accomplish large scale things through beer!

Ice beer always reminds me of my college glory days when we bought kegs of the cheapest, strongest beer we could get our hands on. These guys in Newfoundland have taken it to a whole new level by literally making ice beer with captured chunks of iceberg!
